Course Content

Who:  Adults Aged 17 years and Over.  No Experience Required.

When:  10-week course every Wednesday evening, commencing Wednesday, 20th February 2019

Time:  6.00 pm to 8.00 pm

Where:  Asher Hall, Dalton Street, Napier

Cost:  $200.00 incl. GST.  Receipts available.

  • Energy Flow Within Actors’ Interactions
  • The Use of Props
  • Acting Technique – The Basis of Acting
  • Exploring Interactions Between Actors
  • Will and Counter Will in Establishing Sub-Text
  • Performance

Facilitator / Creative Director:  David Coddington

David is originally from Hawke’s Bay and taught at Central Hawke’s Bay College and Te Aute College. He was involved in directing and acting in a wide variety of productions for both school and community theatre before being invited to take up a position as a professional director at Auckland’s Mercury Theatre.

David left the Mercury Theatre to pursue a freelance career as a drama/acting tutor and director of several productions. In 1991 he was one of three founding Directors of The South Seas Film & TV School and developed their On Screen Acting course in 2001.

David continued as a freelance director founding The Real Theatre Company for which he has directed several professional productions in all of Auckland’s major theatres.

In 2009 David developed and was the Director of the Manukau Institute of Technology, Bachelor of Performing Arts Course. He continued as Director until his retirement in 2014.

    This course can be for adults aged 50 years and over?

  2. Hi there, at the moment because David is starting rehearsals for Oleanna in Auckland soon, he isn’t able to take night classes for adults. But because there is more and more interest he will look into for next year, if you are still keen please keep an eye out on the website for more about classes.
